What is the Bilt Obsidian Card welcome offer?

The Bilt Obsidian Card welcome offer is $200 in Bilt Cash upon approval — with no minimum spend required to receive it.¹ That $200 is ready to use immediately: redeem it dollar-for-dollar at Bilt partner merchants. Or, you can use it to cover the full cost of one Point Accelerator activation, bringing your Obsidian earn rates to 4X dining or grocery, 3X travel, and 2X on all other everyday purchases for your next $5,000 in spending.³ Welcome offers are available to new Bilt Card 2.0 cardholders and are subject to change.

How does the 3X dining or grocery category work on the Obsidian Card?

At account opening, dining is your default 3X category. Within 30 days of account opening, you can switch to grocery instead in the Bilt app. This 30-day window is the only time outside of future Januarys when this category change can be made. After that window, you can change your 3X category once per year during the month of January. If you choose grocery, the 3X rate applies up to $25,000 in grocery purchases per calendar year. Purchases beyond that cap earn 1X for the rest of the year.¹ Dining is uncapped.¹

How does the $100 Bilt Travel Hotel credit work and can I stack it with other credits?

The $100 annual credit is split into two $50 credits — one for January through June, one for July through December. Each credit can only be used in its respective half of the calendar year. Credits do not roll over between halves or to the next year.¹ To use the credit, your hotel booking must be made through the Bilt Travel Portal for a minimum 2-night stay. There is no minimum spend requirement beyond the cost of the 2-night stay itself. This can be combined with Bilt Cash and Bilt Points to further reduce your hotel credit card payment.

What is the Point Accelerator on the Obsidian Card and is it worth using?

The Point Accelerator lets you redeem $200 in Bilt Cash to earn 1 additional Bilt Point per dollar on everyday spending for the next $5,000 in qualifying purchases. It is available up to five times per year (up to $25,000 in eligible purchases annually) and expires after the $5,000 is reached or at calendar year-end, whichever comes first.³ For Obsidian cardholders: activating the accelerator brings your 3X dining or grocery category to 4X, your 2X travel to 3X, and your 1X base to 2X for up to $5,000 in qualifying spend.

My rental building or mortgage servicer charges a fee when I pay rent by card. Does the Bilt Obsidian Card get around that?

Yes. Bilt Obsidian cardholders don’t pay a credit card convenience fee on rent or mortgage payments made through Bilt — regardless of what your landlord’s portal charges for card transactions.¹ The mechanism: Bilt provides you with a dedicated account and routing number in the Bilt app. You enter this into your landlord’s payment portal as an account — the portal will show this option as “bank account,” “e-check,” or “ACH.” Because the portal processes it like a bank account entry rather than a credit card charge, the convenience fee doesn’t apply. You only need to do this setup once. When the payment is submitted through the portal, Bilt debits your linked personal bank account within 24 hours. Your landlord receives a standard ACH transfer — they see a normal bank payment, with no visibility into the Bilt Card powering it on your end. For buildings without an online portal, Bilt processes the payment via Venmo, PayPal, or a check mailed directly to your landlord. In all cases, no transaction fee on your end.¹

Does the Bilt Obsidian Card earn extra points at restaurants, on Lyft, and through Bilt Travel?

Yes — and the Obsidian Card’s bonus categories stack with neighborhood partner rates to produce some of the strongest per-dollar returns available on any $95 card.† At Bilt Neighborhood Dining restaurants — 20,000+ participating locations — you earn bonus Bilt Points per dollar stacked on top of the Obsidian Card’s earn rate. If dining is your selected 3X category, the neighborhood dining bonus stacks on top of that 3X base for a total of up to 6X.¹ The combined rate varies by restaurant and is shown in the Bilt app at the time of your visit. On Lyft, link your Bilt and Lyft accounts to earn an additional 2X per dollar on eligible rides. Combined with the Obsidian Card’s 1X everyday spend base rate,¹ you earn 3X total on Lyft — uncapped. Through the Bilt Travel Portal, the Obsidian Card earns +2X on hotels and +1X on flights stacked on top of its base rates. On hotels, that means 4X total from the base plus the portal bonus. On flights, the Obsidian Card’s 2X travel base rate plus the +1X portal bonus delivers 3X total on flights booked through Bilt Travel.¹ That stacks to: up to 6X+ on dining at Bilt restaurants (when dining is selected), 3X on Lyft, 4X on hotels, and 3X on flights — all on a $95 card† that also earns points on rent and mortgage.¹ Terms and restrictions apply.
